Getting started with your own Speedtest server

Download a Test Agent

In this step we will download, install, and configure a Test Agent.

  • Under Test Agents in the Routing Active Testing user interface, click the Download button.

  • Download the desired type of Test Agent.

  • Follow the installation instructions for Test Agents given here.

By default, once connected and powered up, all Test Agents will communicate directly with the Routing Active Testing server over an encrypted connection:

  • In the cloud server case, to https://login.paa.juniper.net using:

    • Test Agent Appliance: TCP port 443

    • Test Agent Application: TCP port 6800

  • In the on-premise server case, to the host IP using TCP port 6000 (default, configurable).

Activate the Speedtest responder

Once the Test Agent has connected to your Routing Active Testing account, it will appear in the Test Agents view.

  • Click the Test Agent and select the Applications tab.

  • Enable the Speedtest option. Read more here.

Run your first Speedtest

Once the Speedtest application has been activated, you are ready to start testing. Follow the instructions below.

  1. Log in to your account in the Routing Active Testing user interface.

  2. Click Apps.

  3. Select Speedtest.

  4. Click Go to public Speedtest page in the top right corner.

  5. Run a test from your browser towards your Test Agent.

  6. The result is stored in your Routing Active Testing account. To see the result, go to Apps > Speedtest.
